A Baby Q is a combination of a barbecue and a baby shower. This is a great shower to have if you want to invite men. Sometimes it is called a "couples shower", but it is better to say "a co-ed shower" to include your single friends and family members.
Why have a Baby Q Shower?
A Baby Q shower has a very relaxed feel because it is outside and usually in someone's yard or at a park. Your guests can wander around and won't feel trapped inside at the table with Aunt Bettie telling about her 3rd trip to the dentist this week... #You'reWelcome
Can men come to the Baby Q Shower?
Yes!! Men that aren't comfortable at typical baby showers will love getting to hang out around the grill and chat. You can even drink beer...at a baby shower!? It's true. It is wise to also have non-alcoholic options for the pregnant ladies and those who just want a lemonade.
What food is usually served?
The food that is best to serve is what you would find at a typical backyard bbq. This includes hot dogs, burgers, and brats for meat. Sign up your favorite grill master to cook up these. Great side dishes are corn or corn on the cob, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, potato salad, potato chips and popcorn.
Can kids come to the Baby Q?
You don't have to have kids there, but it is an easy shower format to invite kids along. Put a line on the invite to let parents know they can skip the hassle of finding a babysitter like "The entire family is welcome!" Have a kids table with some bubbles and coloring pages. Kids can also be easily entertained if you host the Baby Q at the park.
What about Baby Q Shower Decorations?
The decorations are easy because the traditional Baby Q shower colors are red and white. It is easy to incorporate red gingham plaid because it totally says BBQ. A fun way to get in some color is to use yellow sunflowers. You can use real ones or fake ones, I won't tell.
Now, it is time to go get the cornhole game boards and bags out of the garage and invite some people over for a Baby Q shower to be remembered!
