You have decided to host a Memorial Day party at your house. Awesome! Getting people together makes it feel more like a holiday. Rather than making it lots of work though, I want to help you host an easy Memorial Day party!
Memorial Day Party: Games & Decoration
First of all, the kids are going to need some things to do and outside games usually work out well for Memorial Day. Fingers crossed it doesn’t rain!
I found two great posts with patriotic outside games. The first one features games which need some supplies and prep but are fan favorites such as the three-legged race, water balloon toss, bean bag toss and sack races. The second post has several great ideas requiring no supplies and the kids will already know how to play them. These games adapt Simon Says, Red light, green light, and musical chairs for the holiday, but I don’t want to give it all away.
Your kids will love watching the water (and maybe the flowers too!) turn blue and red as they make these fun centerpieces.
Memorial Day Party: Food & Drink
During the party, the kids will need a fun snack. These Patriotic Pretzel Bites will double as a snack and an activity. If the kids need to cool down or calm down, you can bring the kids into the kitchen to finish these. The adults will love eating the kids’ creations too!
For the kids’ main dish, these Firecracker Hot Dogs have both a star and stripes. Isn’t this a great idea? It will help those kids who have trouble eating a whole hot dog bun.
Both kids and adults will eat up is this nice, light side dish of Summer Fruit Salsa. While you’re getting the food ready, enlist the help of your kids to cut the fruit or the tortillas into star shapes!
This Strawberry Blueberry Limeade will be a nice refreshing touch to round out the meal! Everyone will enjoy this ice cold limeade after all of the warm outside activities. In addition, this recipe couldn’t be any easier. All you have to do is pour the fresh fruit juice, frozen berries, and club soda into the pitcher. Easy!
This year let’s keep the Memorial Day party simple! No need to impress your guests with a big menu and complicated games for the kids. Most of all, they will be glad you were brave enough to get everyone together…at YOUR house!
