We want to have an Ugly Sweater party this holiday season with some friends. There aren’t many options out there for kids, so we made the plan to make our own DIY ugly sweaters for kids!
DIY Ugly Sweater for Kids
My kids were excited because this meant a trip Hobby Lobby was part of the plan! Naturally, we found amazingly cute things to make our ugly sweaters! We had fun planning out our plan for the sweaters in the store.
The cutest things were not machine washable, so we just decided that we would not wash our shirts! Also, my kids don’t like sweaters or sweatshirts, so we decided to decorate long sleeved t-shirts. I bought them at a secondhand shop.
All of the items were glued onto the ugly sweaters with a hot glue gun. I was there with my kids while they were using it! My kids have used a hot glue gun many times, but we still talked over which parts were hot and how to stay safe.
We found these super cute felt snowmen and Christmas trees, so we decided to make those the focal point of our ugly sweaters. Because I have four daughters, we had two of the girls use the snowmen and two use the Christmas trees.
The girls picked out metal jingle bells, foam snowflake stickers, black buttons, and fancy pom poms. I love these ugly sweaters!
There is a small chance I bribed my kids with Halloween candy to go outside with their ugly sweaters on to take their pictures. They were afraid people would drive by and see them. Ha!
Do you have your sweaters ready for your ugly sweater party? Where did you buy them for adults or did you make your own? I would LOVE to have you tag me on Instagram with the hashtag #CoralBalloon with the pictures of your ugly sweaters! I will reply to each one!
